We all get enough emails

After years of writing, I've finally taken the newsletter plunge.

I hope to use this newsletter to speak to you more often.

And though we all get tons of emails, my aim is to send something that you don't hate opening.

I hope this finds you well, and feel free to reach out and say hi whenever.

Have a great week,

J.J.

What to expect in this newsletter

  • What I'm currently working on

    • Plus a sneak peek at the promo video I had created

  • What I expect to include in future newsletters

  • A way for you to get some discounted and free books today.

  • The first book I'd like us all to read together

What I'm working on:

As of this newsletter, I have written forty thousand (40k) words in 'Target 75 (System Orphans: Claire, Book 2)'. I have some great ideas that I look forward to executing, but the writing process has been slower than I'd like (obviously, haha).

I expect the book to reach one hundred thousand (100k) words, so I still have a lot of work left. Despite that, the story has some really fun parts, and I look forward to having people read it when done :).

Book 1 was just sent for audio approval TODAY. If you read the audio, look out for that to come out within the next ten days! Andrea Parsneau did the narration, and my god is it amazing!

Beyond that, I recently wrote out the prologue in another 'System Orphans' story. It's much less action-focused, but it'll be really fun to tie both stories together. Claire's story initially takes place in Toronto, Canada, while the new story will initially take place in Hamilton, Canada - both places are very close to each other :).

As an initial showing of gratitude, here is a yet-to-be-seen video I had created to showcase the amazing cover for Book 2. It's great, and I hope you all like it too :).

Plans for the newsletter

First and foremost, I'd like to let people know what's happening in my life. I keep fairly private, but I plan to let you know when happy things happen! I am about to be a father for the first time, Andrea Parsneau is narrating Apocalypse Assassin, and more! I plan to share that news with you.

I'll let you know when I release a new book, audiobook or omnibus.

I also read often, and I'd love to share some of what I've enjoyed with all of you. I want to turn this into a place where we can pick one book monthly to read together (a LitRPG book club!). I'll do my best to avoid uber-popular stories and instead pick out book 1's that I think we'll all love!

Some other ideas: sharing ongoing images of art as I get it, sharing commissioned art I receive (or have received in the past), sharing early chapters, discussing exciting new releases, sharing my ideas for stories, callouts for feedback on my ideas, and more.

If you have other ideas, I'd love to hear them - respond and let me know :).

May's LitRPG Book Club Read:

Amelia The Level Zero Hero Book 1: An OP MC Isekai LitRPG

Who needs a Class when you're already the strongest anyways?

Ten years ago, Amelia woke up alone and lost in a broken world where she had to fight for her survival.

Now, after reaching the pinnacle of power, defeating the Void itself, and escaping the abyss, she has finally found her way back into the real world. But instead of returning to Earth, she arrives in the land of Vacuos. A fantasy world with magic, monsters, Classes, and Levels. A world that is governed by a System like it were a video game.

And when rewarded with a Class befitting her accomplishments— to become a powerful [Hero] that will forever dedicate her life to protecting this world that is not her own— she only has one response.

“Absolutely not. I’m going to live a normal life now, thank you very much.”
